The well-known Inmobiliaria Carbonell of Alcoy declares bankruptcy and will sell the business.

The historic Carbonell Real Estate of Alcoy is one of the most recognized agencies in the city and the province of Alicante. It is a business that has spent decades working in the real estate sector in Alcoy and surrounding towns, being developers and individuals. But the pandemic affected many businesses in the sector, and of all of them, Carbonell was one of the real estate companies that received a hard blow. Many real estate companies managed to overcome the challenge posed by the pandemic and have been able to resume their functions when they returned to normality; but for others the impact has been so severe that they have not been able to overcome it, adding new forms of commercialization. Among them, Carbonell.

By 2021 its latest figures had plunged, closing with large losses after completing 2020 with profits. All this led the historic business to file for voluntary insolvency proceedings this April 2023. Two months later, the court approved the liquidation plan.

The court first rejected the insolvency administrator's proposal, on the grounds that the proposed rules were not justified as being necessary according to the nature of the assets for sale. However, to avoid uncertainty due to the rejection of the proposal, the court approved 'special rules'. It vetoes the electronic auction of the productive unit, but allows its sale through the rest of the channels.

Having a result of the court, Inmobiliaria Carbonell, its portfolio of clients, the brand, and everything related, is valued at more than 57,000 euros. The method of auction would be through a judicial auction, notary, a specialized entity, direct sale or dividing the goods in lot

The insolvent agency of the Carbonell group is the oldest, being the original company and owner of the web domain, but it is not the only one. Two other companies survive, one in Alcoy (Carbonell Santa Rosa SL) and another in Ontinyent (Carbonell Inmobiliaria de Ontinyent SL).

The accounts consulted for the last financial year of Carbonell Inmobiliaria de Alcoy SL show that only 266,000 euros were invoiced, 30% less than in the middle of the pandemic, when it was close to 400,000 euros for real estate brokerage. This intense decrease in income added to the increase in operating expenses led the company to losses of 56,000 euros. At that time the company had ten employees.
